A Month after Edith's Death Archie refuses to deal with his loss and tries to lose himself in his work, but everyone at the bar is going out of their way to be nice to him. Meanwhile Stephanie is skipping school.

Trivia: Marcia Rodd who plays real estate agent Allison Flanders is a familiar face to "All in the Family" viewers. Rodd previously played the roles of Marilyn Sanders the women who left her son Danny at the Bunker's house claiming he was Mike's son in the second season "All in the Family" episode "Mike's Mysterious Son" and Maude's daughter Carol Trainer in the "All in the Family" second season "Maude" Pilot episode "Maude" Rodd was replaced in the role of Carol by Adrienne Barbeau when CBS picked up Maude as a series in the fall of 1972.

Archie searches for a housekeeper. The best candidate turns out to be Ellen Canby (Barbara Meek) the Sister of his black next neighbor Ed. Archie ends up offending her, but Murray convinces her to take the job anyway. Mrs. Canby and Archie must learn to live with each other.

Trivia: Polly husband Ed's who's last name was then Lewis was played by Richard Ward in the "All in the Family" ninth season episode "The Family Next Door" Ward unfortunately passed away in July 1979. In this episode the roll was recast with Mel Bryant.

Murray's ex-wife Shelley who he has not seen in many years pays him a surprise visit. Even Archie likes her. Murray soon finds himself growing closer to her again, but soon Murray starts to realize why they got divorced in the first place when she reveals her plans for them convert the bar into an English Style pub where in which her socialite friends would feel at home. Unfortunately Archie, Harry and Veronica do not fit into her plans for the bar.

When the supermarket Manager sees Archie and Mrs. Canby shopping together he accuses them of being a couple for this Archie punches him. Which is bad for Archie considering the Manager is also the leader of Archie lodge The Kings of Queens. Archie decides not to apologize which will lead to him being kicked out of the lodge.

Stephanie's grandmother wealthy widow Estelle Harris comes for a visit, but soon she is ready to fight Archie for Custody of Stephanie. Archie Turns to his lawyers Rabinowitz Rabinowitz and Rabinowitz to fight to keep Stephanie.

Holm recently stared as Gerald McRaney mother on the "Touched by an Angel' spin-off "Promised Land" which ran 3 seasons on CBS from 1996 to 1999.

Archie fights Mrs. Harris in court for Custody of Stephanie, but Stephanie wants to stay with Archie. The Judge must decide if Stephanie's should stay with Archie or Travel Europe with Grandma Harris. The Judge decides that Stephanie is best off staying with Archie.

When Barney has success with Murray's betting system for Horse Racing he soon starts betting on everything and finds him self in debt to a bookie who will kill him if he doesn't pay up. It is up to Murray and Archie to bail him out.

exchange for putting his name in the corner of the window.

When Amy Bloom's Father builds her an exploding Mount Saint Helens for the classes science fair Archie feels a need for Stephanie's project be better. Archie gets everyone at the bar to build Stephanie a model of the solar system, which the Teacher thinks is great, but fails because she can tell in was not built by Stephanie.

Veronica hits rock bottom when Murray and Archie discover her drunk in the storeroom. Murray refers her to him doctor who tells her to give up drinking but who gives Valium to help relax her. But when Veronica takes the Valium with Alcohol she collapses and has to have her stomach pumped. Archie tells Veronica he will fire her if she doesn't stay sober. When she is caught with a bottle of boos Archie fires her. It takes this to show her she must make a commitment to stop
drinking. With Archie's support she calls Alcoholics Anonymous.

(41) "The Trashing of the Temple"

A Rash of vandalism of Synagogues around the city brings Rabbi Jacobs to the Bar to Ask Archie the only non Jewish member of Temple Beth Isaiah to join a committee to protect against these acts, but Archie will not join. When Temple Beth Isaiah is itself vandalized Archie decides that it is unsafe for Stephanie to be around the Synagogue and threatens to pull her out of Hebrew School .Mr. Van Ranseleer is able to get Archie to see his approach is wrong and Archie shows up to the Committee meeting where he volunteers to canvas the neighborhood for vandalism on Thursday nights.
Guest Stars: Michael Mann as Rabbi Jacobs, Russ Marin as the Detective, Steve Jones as the Policeman and Harry Bartron as Ted (The actors who play Phil Kirshbaum, Dureen Costell, Dr. Bruce Ganz & Mr. Meyer are not credited though they all have dialogue.)

Trivia: The Synagogue was named Temple Beth Shalom when Archie and Edith joined it by enrolling Stephanie in Sunday School in the "All in the Family"" ninth season episode "Stephanie's Conversion" in this episode the Synagogue's name is Temple Beth Isaiah. Michael Mann reprises his roll from "Stephanie's Conversion" as Rabbi Jacobs. Mann also played hippy Reverend Harris who married Al & Trudy in the sixth season "All in the Family" episode "New Year's Wedding" and played Dr. Dolby in the 7th season episode "Gloria's False Alarm".

Murray is ready to propose to his girlfriend Marcie and turns down his mother invitation to dinner. When his mother dies of a Heat attack at the same time he is out on his date proposing to his girlfriend. Murray feels guilty that he wasn't with his mother when she died. Murray's girlfriend thinks he blames her. After talking to his mother's friends Murray learns his mother was wining a poker game and very happy at the time of her death. But when he wants to apologize to Marcie he learns she has taken a Job in San Francisco.

Once they make up Murray decides the best thing he can do is move with her to San Francisco. Though Archie tries to convince Murray to stay Murray decides he must follow his heart and the gang at the bar must say farewell to Murray.
